The construction of this boot isn’t as good as many of the others I have seen that are in the $400 to $500 range but it is still good. It is made of somewhat thin sheet metal steel but it’ll still present a challenge to take off and it “looks” same to the costly boots. In general, for it is price, I think it is a good purchase and will certainly make a thief think twice about having to tackle on a boot before stealing whatever you choose to put it on.

Both were as deafening as a jackhammer and caused a big racket when in use. And they were quite slow in inflating my car tires so the racket went on for longer than I wanted. The main features I wanted in a new unit was low sound output and an capability to inflate my 20″ SUV tires. Wow! does this unit deliver! I plugged it in one of my car power outlets and turned it on in my enclosed garage. I know the sound wasn’t obvious to my townhouse neighbors. And the inflation is much faster: with my Craftsman, I could settle in for the wait to inflate 5psi, turn on the radio and check the gauge every not many minutes. With this one, I had to watch the gauge closely to ensure I didn’t over inflate inside one minute. (According to the assert on the box, it’ll inflate a 14″ tire from 0 28psi in under 2:30 seconds.)

What you get:

16 ft PVC air hose with fast connect cabling (much like most Craftsman air compressors);
10 ft power cord with a 15 amp fuse (this length, plus that of the air hose, should be plenty long enough for most folks);
Fitted analog pressure gauge (above 30 psi, it displays 2psi increments up to 150psi);
Four LED lights built into the inflator (the lamp has a separate on/off switch from the inflator)
Four inflation adaptors for toys, balls, rafts, etc.

The box also will include two substitute 12v fuses. I can not speak to longevity as I have not put it through any wear and tear but since it is a direct drive motor, fewer moving parts could imply that it should last longer than other gear driven models. The whole thing fits nicely in a carrying bag that can fit behind any car seat (it’s about the size of an adult’s soft lunchbox). Time will tell if Goodyear was wise in allowing its name used on this model but so far, so good. Greatly recommend.

After researching some air compressors online, I decided to buy this unit. Just received it and tried it out. I’m really happy by this unit:

Very quite and stable it will not jump around like my last unit;
Fast inflation I tried to top off on my 31″ truck tire. I didn’t time it, but I can see the needle moving at 33 psi. For bicycle tires, it takes only seconds;
Reasonable power draw it didn’t blow the fuse on my 04 4Runner, and I do not have problem starting the truck after testing the unit without engine running to fill three bicycles and top off a truck tire;
Correct gauge I tested it against my other tire gauge and the readings are practically the same at 33 psi;
Quality construction. The chuck connector works more reliably than the fast connector in my last cheap unit. It loses some air upon disconnect but may be easily compensated.

Camper tires will heat and fail (blow) if the pressure is too low. Our camper tires require 50 psi. I chose this compressor because it appeared to be heavier responsibility than the “cheaper” (below $20) varieties found at the discount stores. After three weeks and 5,000 miles, no blow outs. Plus, we also had a truck tire with a slow leak and I was able to preserve good pressure in that tire without having to rely upon service station inflation vending machines. In summary, I believe this product is a useful tool and a good value.

By John doe See all my reviews I am very impressed by the performance of the 90P Viair compressor. I first had wanted to purchase the 70P Viair compressor because it was cheaper and because it has the car accessory plug in (instead of the alligator clips), but both my cars has a 10amp accessory fuse and I didn’t want to take the risk of blowing them every time I used the compressor (I believe the 70P has a 14 amp draw). This led me to think about either the Masterflow, or the MV50, because of their reviews in Amazon. After reading many reviews afterward, I choose against both, primarily because I was not keen on the screw on air chuck and the coil spring hose. I wanted the snap on chuck and did not want to have to stretch a hose to get to a tire. Plus, I noticed that if the hose is attached to the farthest tire, the gauge could wind up being on other end of the car since it is attached to the compressor. I know they are small inconveniences, but for me, I wanted easy on, easy off, no pulling, and the tire gauge by the tire. The 90P looked to have what I wanted plus I thought it looked sturdier and well built. The price of the 90P was a bit more than I wanted to pay but the reviews I read convinced me to give it a shot
I have a couple of tires with slow leaks that I have not had a chance to bring in to fix. I has been amazed at how fast it pumped up my tires from about 25lbs to 32lbs (both tires in about one min. Each). I also exceeded off all four of my sister’s tire in some mins. The attached air gauge was just as correct as my hand held gauge, and the bleeder valve on the chuck is certainly a plus. I know I most likely will not be using the compressor as much, once I fix my tires, but WOW, you really get what you paid for. Not only is this fast, it calm. I am sure the Masterflow and the MV50 performance are most likely comparable depending on their reviews, but in general, I am happy with my choice. I have two other compressors which I paid about $25 for and they’re twice as deafening and take about ten times longer. I will most likely keep one as a spare and throw the other one away.
Of course, after I bought this and used it, I learned that there’s an 80P viair out there, also with the snap on chuck, but for less. I could have gone and exchanged the two to save many money, but, I am so impressed with 90P’s performance that I did not want to go thru the annoyance of mailing it back and risk being disappointed. Will most likely attempt the 80P if I need another one, but if they ever discontinue the 80P, I could certainly purchase this one again.
I did not give this a five star because I thought the wire should have been just a little longer and the price more inline with its competitors.

(REAL NAME) () This review is from: VIAIR 90P movable Compressor (Automotive) I got this tire inflator because I did not want to be reliant on my local gas station to fill my tires up. Last time I went there the air compressor was broken, so I bought this.

This unit hooks directly up to your car’s battery. My 2010 Honda Accord only puts out ten amps through the DC outlet inside the car, so I decided to get this one rather than alike units that I have seen that hook up inside your car rather than the battery. I have read other reviews about many of these inflators blowing fuses in the cars, so I was aware of that issue ahead of time.

After connecting the clamps to the battery and turning on my car, I filled up all my tires just to top them off. The compressor is comparatively calm (certainly not deafening by my definition) and added about two psi to each tire in about ten seconds for each tire. The unit was a little warm after all four tires, but surely not anywhere near hot to hurt my hands from touching the metal heatsink. It most likely gets hotter if you leave it on for longer, but for regular tire inflation maintenance, it looks like it’s rugged enough to manage it.

The nozzle is a clampdown type which also has a release switch. You press the release switch once to lock it into the release position, and press it again to shut it back up.

Most of the parts are made of metal, not plastic. It does have rubber feet on the bottom to take in the vibrations though. The length of the hose and DC power cord put together is just enough to reach all four tires on my car comfortably. The bag that comes with it fits all of the parts with many room to spare (I also keep my tire guage in there now).

All things considered, I think this is a pretty good unit. The construction feels good, which is reassuring since I had another tire inflator a while back that didn’t last long. It does everything I projected.

I wish carrying bag was somewhat bigger or the place of the air hose outlet could change. When I put the compressor in the bag it looks like it may unnecessarily bend the hose if I’ not cautious. This is just a minor complaint.
Have not gotten the pressure gauge to read properly.
One year warranty (wish it was two or three years)

If you goto viair’s web site, the 70p is for up to 175/65/15 tires, which is 15″ tires. I had 18″ tires, so that is why I looked into the 90p.

I also looked at the Masterflow/Q Industries MF 1050 / MV 50. These pumps are spec’d likewise to the Viair 90p. One confusing thing is that the MF 1050 and MV 50 are the same exact pump did many research online. , I opted for the Viair brand, b/c their web site and company history seemed more hard than MasterFlow.

I think many of people who get compressors with a power ranking of only 15A (those that are powered by cigarette lighters or 110v cords) have a pump that is just too underpowered for their needs. That is why it breaks down or they have an unsatisfactory experience.

This Viair 90p certainly meets my needs and I’d recommend it to all.

It is small and packs neatly inside the included bag. I keep mine in the trunk for roadside emergencies or just the sporadic pressure modification. It also makes light work of inflating bicycle and lawn equipment tires.

I also own a Craftsman, Campbell Hausfeld, & a Superflow HV35 from Q Industries(see the review). I tested all the units punctually to inflate a 215 70R14 from zero to 32lbs. By speed to inflate the Viair 70p and Superflow HV35 blow away the lesser units from Craftsman and C.H.
It takes 15+ minutes to inflate with either of the lesser models. The 70p can handle the task in around 4.5 minutes where the HV35 was closer to four minutes flat. Also to the speed benefits both higher class units do their job in a much smoother and quieter manner.

The 70p’s benefits over the HV35 are: Build quality, lower sound output and lower running temperatures. It also looks to draw less current making it less probably to blow your accessory port fuse.

With it is tough construction, smooth, calm, & cool operation, I have little doubt that this compressor will be there when I need it. For the $40 price tag it’s a hight value per dollar when in comparison to lesser makes.

I have BMW with 19 inch sport wheels and low profile tires
This compressor is a part of my road side emergency kit
I have tire plugger and jack also to compressor as whole setup to fix my tire if i catch screw or nail while on the road
I haven’t had any issues in that regard still, but i did use the comressor to inflate my tire.
It was a bit under specification, so i had to add many air
This little beast did the job inside less than 30 second
Yes, not minutes, seconds!
It went from 34psi to 38psi in just a matter of seconds
It was done without any sweat either
Very little sound, little vibration

Used this at the track to add air to the tires, the fastest cig lighter air compressor I ever used. I had many 20, 25 dollars air compressor and they all break inside a year. The size is comparable to the other cheaper compressor not too big, which is nice. The pressure gauge on the compressor is good enough to assist you fill your flat tire, just read it when the compressor is off.

Update nearly three years afterward, still runs like a champ. I do not really know what to say anymore cause its still working great. Could purchase an other one if I lose it, cause this thing isn’t gonna break.
